Hawthorne Apple or Tejocote has light orange outer skin with a texture and taste somewhat similar to apples. The hawthorn apple (tejocote) offers both bitter and sweet notes. Tejocote is very high in pectin with applications in beverages, marmalades and fruit preparations.

While it is most often used as the many ingredient in "Christmas Punch" (ponche navideño or calientito) it is a flavor profile familiar to almost all first and second generation Mexican Americans throughout the United States and Canada. We currently only offer Tejocote as a 100% natural, conventional product.
